Local police believe alcohol was a factor in a fatal accident in Kill Devil Hills Wednesday night. According to witnesses, a 44-year-old man failed to stop at a red flashing light at the intersection of Colington Road and US158 around 7:30 p.m. At the same time, a pickup truck driven by a 43-year-old man traveling south entered the intersection and struck the other vehicle. The force from the collision caused the pickup to roll and land on its top. A 51-year-old man in the passenger seat of the truck died at the scene. The wife of the 51-year-old and her sister were in the rear passenger seats. They were flown to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital due to the severity of their injuries.
