A worker at a Smithfield Foods pork plant in Clinton died over the weekend. He was found with his head in the opening of a waste -tanker at the plant. Apparently, the worker was cleaning sludge out the tanker and was overcome by fumes causing him to go into cardiac arrest. Sludge is a byproduct of sewage and can emit methane which can be fatal. Investigators are going to test the air quality and determine if any breathing apparatus was required for the work he was doing. To read more about this story click here www.wral.com.
